God Visits The Jews

Jesus Himself indicated that Palm Sunday was an incredibly important day because it was the time of their visitation by God Almighty, their decision day to accept Jesus as the prophesied Messiah-King. All during Jesus’ three and one-half years ministry, He kept shying away from people who wanted to declare Him as their Messiah because He knew the timing was off. After all, God had prophesied through Daniel the exact day He would arrive. He knew it, so why didn’t the Scribes and Pharisees, the supposedly learned leaders of the nation? Even so, when His day of visitation came, as He approached Jerusalem…

Luke 19:41-44
41 … he beheld the city, and wept over it,
42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in THIS THY DAY, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not THE TIME OF THY VISITATION.

Although the people hailed Jesus as their king, the religious and political leaders rejected Him, and had Him crucified as an imposter four days later. The Priests and Pharisees scolded Him for not rebuking the people and not compelling them to quit shouting …Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that comes in the nameth of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. Jesus refused to comply with their demands saying, …if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out [Luke 19:40]. Why?….because the 173,880th day had arrived. To understand better the timing of this event and how it relates to Daniel’s prophetic era of 70 weeks, let me explain about Palm Sunday.

The Paschal Lamb

According to law, the lamb for the Passover supper was selected on the 10th of Nisan four days prior to its sacrificial death. For four days it was on display by everyone to determine if it had any blemishes because the sacrificial lamb had to be spotless [Exodus 12:5]. Do you recall that Jesus spent the last four days before His Passion Week in the Temple teaching, preaching, and answering questions [Luke 19:47-21:38]? He was on public display.

Even though Jesus’ body did not expire on the tenth, the 173,880th day of the prophecy, He was destined for death. Once chosen by the High Priest out of Bethlehem’s official priestly corral of possible lambs, that selected lamb was doomed to die. It was the judicially recognized sacrificial lamb to be slaughtered on Passover as an offering for the sins of the people, for it was to be offered to God and had no hope of being spared its fate. Thus, the Messiah Prince of Daniel’s prophecy was virtually killed (cut off) on the day of His public rejection by the rulers of Israel. His visible earthly Kingship of the Jewish nation was put on hold till another time. Is not this cutting off of the King Messiah after 69 heptads of years a remarkable fulfillment of Daniel’s prophecy?

We know that the 14th of Nisan is the Jewish date God specified for celebrating the Passover [Numbers 28:16,17]. Using non-Biblical secular historical writings it has been calculated that Jesus’ actual death in the year 32 C.E. on the Gregorian calendar was April 6th, a Thursday. I’ll come back to that. So, looking at the cut off date in a rearview mirror, counting backward four days from Thursday, the 14th, we come to Sunday, the Jewish 10th of Nisan, the day of the lamb’s selection.

The
he Lamb Of God Was Sacrificed Between The Evenings

To keep things in proper perspective, let me explain that the Jewish day is divided into two 12-hour periods of darkness and daylight. This was God’s method in creating. Darkness represents chaos and daylight corresponds to order. Throughout the week of creation, God kept infusing energy into His chaotic soup of electromagnetic particles comprising the universe. Each day brought more order into the mix until at last He saw that everything was not just good, but very good [Genesis 1:33]. Since it was very good, He never stopped using His method of a 12 hour division between daylight and darkness.

Hence, evening begins Jewish days and is counted from sunset at 6:00 p.m. to daylight at 6:00 a.m., and morning constitutes the time from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Further, the 12-hour daylight portion is divided up into a morning part, from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, and an evening part, from noon to 6:00 p.m.

We know from Exodus 12:6 that the Passover lamb was to be killed between the evenings 3 which is exactly 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon – between the beginning of daylight’s evening portion at high noon and the beginning of the next day’s evening at 6:00 p.m. Awareness of Jewish accounting of time helps in understanding many passages of Scripture related to our Lord’s ministry and especially His death, burial, and resurrection. It also helps in deciphering the accuracy of Daniel’s prophetic oracles.

The
he Selection Of A Sacrificial Lamb Was Important
To repeat, the Passover lamb was selected by the High Priest on the 10th of Nisan, four days before it was slain. The supper eaten on the night of the lamb’s selection was called the ‘first supper’ for they were counting the days leading up to the day of the lamb’s sacrifice. The next day was Monday the 11th, day two in which the ‘second supper’ was eaten. Tuesday, the 12th, was day three when the ‘third supper’ was eaten. Wednesday was the 13th when the ‘last supper’ was eaten, but because it is eaten after dark, it is the evening of the 14th. The next day of the 14th, the lamb was slain between the evenings for the Passover meal, which is eaten the evening of the 15th.

Sheep and Lambs

I am going to clear up something for you that puzzled me for a long time until I learned from a Messianic Jew (a born again Jew who is now a Christian) about the Passover meal, commonly called the Seder meal. Being a Jew who knows the law and customs, he explained why the gospel accounts record that Jesus ate the Passover meal and the Last Supper in the same night. The confusion stems from not knowing Jewish customs.

Luke’s account of Jesus eating the Passover meal says that He told His disciples to …go and prepare the Passover that we may eat [22:8]. It is clear from verse 15 of Luke’s gospel that Jesus ate the Passover with His disciples. If He was eating the Seder meal, how could He be the Passover Lamb? Moreover, how was it the ‘last supper’ that comes the day before the Passover supper? Could He eat the Passover and be the Lamb killed on the same day? The gospels give no explanation to a reader indicating that people in the first centuries had no problem understanding what was written. It all has to do with custom.

Jews have two days in which they may choose to eat the Passover. Because there is no Temple today, it can be either on the 15th or the 16th of Nisan. The 15th is called the First Seder and the 16th is called the Second Seder. But whichever day it is, the entire lamb has to be consumed by midnight partially explaining why the meal is long and drawn out. Exodus 34:25 commands that all of the lamb’s meat must be consumed ‘by morning’, but Jews take that to mean before they go to bed. Therefore they set a customary time limit of midnight for the lamb to be totally eaten.

In Jesus’ day, since there was a Temple, the people had a choice of eating the Seder either on the 14th, called the First Seder, or the 15th, called the Second Seder. Remember that the fourteenth of Nisan begins at sundown six hours before midnight when the meal had to be finished. Knowing He would not be around on the 15th, Jesus obviously chose to eat the Passover meal on the First Seder because He knew He would become the Lamb slain for the sins of the world at 3:00 p.m. that afternoon, the same day of the 14th, fulfilling the prophetic promise embedded in God’s Passover Feast.

Hence, the Seder meal and the Last Supper became one meal for Jesus and His disciples. Moreover, when He finished the supper, He instituted a new commemorative meal with the elements of bread and wine signifying that a new blood covenant was about to be cut with His body as the sacrificial animal to seal the New Covenant and all that pertains to it. Thus He did away with the old Passover meal, the Old Covenant, and all pertaining to it.

At 3:00 p.m. on the 14th, Jesus gave up the ghost outside the gates of the city at the very hour that the High Priest’s chosen sacrificial lamb’s throat was cut on the Temple altar. Immediately after slaying the lamb, the High Priest stood atop the stairs next to the altar and shouted the required words, “It is finished” [Psalms 22:31] not knowing that Jesus was uttering at the same moment while hanging on the cross outside the gates those very same words [John 19:30]. Ironically, the High Priest had personally slain, which was his duty, the last sacrifice ever needed when He sent Jesus, the Lamb of God, to His death on a cross on Mt. Moriah by way of the Romans.

Jesus said He would be in the grave three days and three nights, and being crucified on Thursday satisfies this utterance, for any part of a day or night was considered as a whole day or night in Jewish reckoning of time. If He were crucified on Friday, there is no way you can get three nights out of Friday night and Saturday night for there is not even a part of a third night to consider. A Thursday’s crucifixion satisfies all the prophetic requirements of God’s agenda whereas a Friday’s does not, notwithstanding the traditional Good Friday holiday. Having settled the timing of Jesus’ crucifixion on Thursday, let us return to the last heptad of Daniel’s prophecy for the Jews.

The
he Third Grouping Of 1 Heptad --- 7 Years

Daniel 9:26-27
26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

In verse 26 of Daniel’s prophecy, we learn that after the Messiah was cut off, the city of Jerusalem and the sanctuary would be destroyed by the people of the prince who brings desolations to Israel, which desolations are determined by God for a specified amount of time. The desolations for Israel began in 70 C.E. at the destruction of Jerusalem and have continued through the entire time she has been in dispersion throughout the nations. All during the Diaspora and up to the time the Jews started returning to the land, Palestine remained desolate and uninhabitable. No one wanted to live there.

A prominent writer from the USA upon visiting Israel in the latter part of the 19th century commented that he had never seen such a desolate place, and he could count the trees of the entire area on two hands. Rain was rare and the land lay naked with only dust and rocks. That is why even the Arabs did not populate it during the centuries that the Turks controlled the area.

The Deserts Will Blossom

Since the Jews have returned, however, there has been a transformation of the landscape. In direct proportion to the return of the Jews and their habitation of the land, the rain has harmoniously returned gradually in accordance with their numbers. The land has become remarkably productive and millions upon millions of trees having been planted. It is now a beautifully watered garden, which is one reason the Arabs want it back. Israel’s agricultural production per acre is twice that of any other country of the world including the USA. It is as if the land somehow knew who was working it. God said it belonged to Him [Judges 11:12,13; Ezekiel 38:16; Joel 1:6; 3:2], and He gave it to His people, the Jews [Joshua 24:13]. So is it any wonder that the creation should obey the Creator?

Ezekiel 36:33-35
33 Thus saith the Lord God; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be builded.
34 And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by. (It would not produce for any other people.)
35 And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited.

So, in short order in less than half a century, the land has become a Garden of Eden since Israel’s return. Nevertheless, the desolations of Israel are not finished. They will culminate in one last heptad of seven years of extreme desolation that precedes the setting up of King Messiah’s everlasting Kingdom.

The
he Prince Who Shall Come

After the church is raptured to heaven, God changes venue in working with man. The Church Age being past, there is no more solicitation for members of the bride. Therefore, the last week of the Age of Israel begins after the church is gone. Daniel tells us that a grievous breach of allegiance to Jehovah God of Israel will be made at the reinstatement of the Age of Israel.

Israel will enter into an agreement with the Antichrist prince [Daniel 9:26] who shall appear on the scene as an affable, peaceable, charismatic, charming benefactor for Israel’s peace with her neighbors. He will confirm a covenant with Israel for one week [9:27], but it will be a pretense alliance, for Daniel reports that the last world dictator … shall come in peaceably, and obtain (his) kingdom by flatteries. He will dupe Israel into this covenant with death through the mechanism of appeasement because the Antichrist pope of satan wants to rule the world from Jerusalem, the place God has chosen for Himself [Zechariah 2:12]. How satan lusts to be like God!

Strong’s Concordance defines ‘confirm’ [v.27] as meaning ‘to be strong’ and by implication ‘to prevail’ or ‘to act insolently’. The Hebrew word infers that a mighty warrior will promise to enforce (confirm) a peace for one heptad of seven years between Israel and her sworn enemies who are her neighbors, the Islamics. However, the prophecy goes on to say that after three and one-half years, in the middle of the week, he will turncoat and become indwelt by the devil himself going about overspreading… abominations that will devour and destroy Jews and Christians who missed the rapture throughout the whole world beginning in Israel. That’s why Jesus said when you see the abomination that makes desolate standing in the holy place ----- run for the hills! The only safe place for Jews will be where God provides supernatural protection by angels in the caves of Edom, Moab, and Ammon [Daniel 11:41].

Jerusalem and the Temple were destroyed thirty-eight years after Jesus was cut off in 32 C.E.. Roman General Titus, son of Caesar, fiendishly made the place a great devastation. Interestingly, when General Titus burned and leveled Jerusalem, he had just become a Prince due to the fact that his father, Vespasian (69-79), had become Caesar of Rome during the siege of the city making Daniel’s prophecy quite accurate. God doesn’t leave any ‘t’ uncrossed in fulfilling prophecy.

There is a question among prophecy scholars as to whether the Prince that shall come, the one who shall destroy the city and the sanctuary, refers to Prince Titus or to the Antichrist. Perhaps the law of double reference applies here. Nevertheless, we know that General Titus became a Prince during the siege of Jerusalem and he did trash the city with an overflowing flood. So he qualifies to fulfill verse 26.

Because God is uncannily shrewd in detailing prophetic history, I believe the Antichrist probably will be someone having the title of Prince. Aristocracy bestows many different titles on people, so this endtime ruler could be called by another one when he appears on the scene. He has over thirty titles just in the Bible! Regardless, the Antichrist prince of the tribulation period will somehow be connected to the Revived Roman Empire and perhaps even to General Titus’ bloodline.

Verse 27 says that this prince will spread out his abominations and make desolate the entire world. This is what Jesus was referring to in His Olivet Discourse. He said that the sign for the Jews to get out of Jerusalem will be when the Antichrist sets up his abominable image in the holy place forcing men to worship him or be killed [Revelation 13:15].

What is this image? We can only speculate, but a strange thing has happened in Israel. The Israeli government has given permission for the Muslims to build a fifth prayer tower taller and more impressive than the other four that stand on the holy mount today. When will it happen and how long will it take? We really cannot tell for sure, but the tower will be there to ring an alert several times a day for Muslims to stop what they are doing and pray.

Are the Jews allowing another god to be put before the God of the Bible? Could this be the image Jesus said would be an abomination? It will be erected on the highest point of the Temple mount in the SE corner and will be capable of being seen for miles. What a blasphemous affront to God. And the Jews are making it possible. By giving consent to the tower being built, the Jews are in effect blessing the work of the devil.

Someone has said there is none so blind as those who refuse to see. Because the majority of Israelis reject the Old Testament as a binding covenant between them and God, they are trusting in the arm of flesh as they give away their land for peace. They desperately need our prayers. It does no good to act against them or curse them because God has promised to curse them that curse her.

In due time, the Arabs who hate Israel will get their comeuppance and will be punished just like every other nation that has persecuted the Jews over the years. As I have said, history records that no nation after persecuting the Jews has attained to its former height even though they may survive because God keeps His Word and remembers His covenants.

Even now as the Jews shoot themselves in the feet, God is honor bound to save a remnant of them in the tribulation because of the Abrahamic Covenant through which He was able to get His son into the world to save it. Because Abraham validated 4 on Mt. Moriah the blood covenant God cut with Him by willingly offering his beloved son Isaac as a sacrifice to prove his love for and trust in God, God could do no less.

Abraham believed God would raise Isaac from the dead [Hebrews 11:18,19], and this gave legal force to obligate God to offer His Son sacrificially and raise Him from the dead. The actions of one party of a blood covenant enjoin the other party do likewise or better. Blood covenants are that way. Praise God forevermore because He did not withhold His Son to be a sacrifice even though He knew there could not be a substitute animal to stand in for Jesus like Abraham had for Isaac.

Abraham knew that the promised seed of the woman was going to come through his son Isaac because God told him so [Genesis 17:19-21]. Therefore, he reasoned that if God required Isaac’s sacrifice on an altar, the Almighty would have to raise him from the dead in order to fulfill His Word that the seed would come through Isaac. It stands to reason, then, that if God would raise Isaac from the dead, He would also raise His own son from the dead after validating His side of the covenant 2,000 years later. And true to His Word, Jesus arose from the grave.

Conclusion

The Antichrist Appearance

It has been pointed out in “The Rapture Series” that the tribulation will be horrendous and people ought to stay ready to depart in the rapture. Daniel’s prophecy gives us God’s declaration of how long earth’s scourging will last – one week of years. For seven years the world must endure the abominable Antichrist’s sinister conspiracies and treachery. As noted His reign of terror begins with a ruse of bringing peace to the world.

Notice that this man of sin is the rider on the white horse of the first seal in the book of Revelation [6:1,2]. He comes on the world scene imitating Jesus the conqueror. He will seem peaceful, stalwart, resolute, and a world savior, but in the middle of the period of deception his true character comes forth. Anyone who does not comply with his blasphemous schemes will be hunted down and killed. Daniel documents his cunning craftiness in chapter 11.

Antichrist Confirms A Covenant

After the rapture of the true church of Jesus Christ [2 Thessalonians 2:6-8], the man of sin confirms the covenant with many for one week; and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease… [9:27]. From our analysis of Daniel’s prophecy, we can deduce that this last week of 7 years is the finalization of the times of the Gentiles.

This heptad opens with the Antichrist confirming the covenant with MANY. There has been speculation as to what the covenant is that is being confirmed. It might be a treaty or contract already in existence, which he will merely enforce, or it might be a newly executed agreement.

Most Biblicists have interpreted this to mean that he somehow makes an accord with Israel, and then breaks it in the middle of the seven year period. But does he actually make one? There is no doubt that he will break it in the mid-point at the end of three and one-half years, and this is the cue Jesus gave for Jews to get out of Jerusalem and the surrounding areas running in haste to the mountains. They are not even to go back inside their houses to get a coat when they realize that the order has been given to stop the sacrifices and oblations.

Things will be so bad that Jesus said the Jews should pray that their flight would not be on the Sabbath day or in winter because it would create great hardships on people with little ones [Matthew 24:20]. Read the Olivet Discourse and you can better understand the urgency of departure out of Jerusalem and in fact the entire countryside of Israel. Although the world will have been in tribulation for three and one-half years, this is the beginning point of the great tribulation, the last holocaust of the world that lasts another forty-two months.

We discovered in verse 27 that this prince is ‘confirming’ a covenant with many meaning that he is enforcing something, merely agreeing to see that it will be complied with. Because he will be cunningly charismatic, he will artfully convince the Jews that he is on their side as he promises to see that the covenant is ‘enforced’. This will cause them to relax, let their guard down, and think peace at last. But they will be shocked and astonished when they realize they have made a covenant with death.

Isaiah 28:18
18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled (it will be broken and trashed), and your agreement with hell shall not stand (their treaty with the Antichrist turns out to be a pack of lies); when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. (They put their trust in an arm of flesh, a piece of paper instead of trusting in their blood covenant with Almighty God resulting in them being crushed.)

It is noteworthy that there is already a covenant in existence between the Jews and the Arabs called the Oslo Peace Accords. It was begun in 1993 and was to become effective seven years later in September of 2000. The Palestinian leader, Yassar Arafat, and the Prime Minister of Israel, Yitzak Rabin, (both deceased today) signed it under President Clinton’s watch at the White House in the USA. It provided for a Palestinian state, Israel’s right to exist, and a sharing of the city of Jerusalem.

Although it never became effective, it is still on the table signed and agreed to by both states of Palestine and Israel. It never became effective because the second Intifada by the Palestinians broke out in the summer of 2000 before September 13th, the date that it was to become effective. Warring and fighting have not yet ceased long enough to attempt to make it work. However, the covenant is still on the table and waiting for someone robust and rugged enough to come along and attempt to enforce it. Could that be the covenant with death mentioned in the book of Isaiah that Daniel’s prophecy is pointing to? All that is needed is for it to be confirmed. My motive in telling you this is to alert you about how close we are to the beginning of the last heptad of Daniel’s prophecy. Are you ready for the rapture?

A second more recent attempt at peace between Israel and Palestine is USA President Bush’s initiative along the same lines of the Oslo Peace Accord. This initiative is an international conference having begun in the fall of 2007 at the Naval Academy in Annapolis Maryland and is still in process. It promotes the same idea of bringing to realization the notion that Israel and Palestine can exist as two democratic states living side-by-side in peace and security. This time, however, instead of conferring in secret with only the USA hosting the signing of a Peace Accord as in the late 1990s, this latest covenantal manifesto is being furthered by many.

At lease fifty-two nations have been invited to send delegations to confer in the architectural plan that might possibly be the start of something big – the last week of Daniel’s prophecy. This Annapolis conference promoted by President George Bush seems very close to what Daniel’s prophecy implicitly states – And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week… Nothing has been finalized yet, but President Bush informs us that he would like this to be his joyful legacy to the world. He hopes it will come to fruition before he leaves office in 2009. If it is the final treaty to bring about the last heptad of Daniel’s 70 week prophecy, ironically, his legacy will have been a woefully infamous one.

A
Gap Amidst Daniel’s Prophetic Era

The bulk of Daniel’s prophecy has come to pass and only one week of seven years is left for Israel to endure her eras of devastation before her kingdom is reinstated …to bring in everlasting righteousness, …to seal up the vision, …and to anoint the most Holy [Daniel 9:24]. Daniel’s book opens with an account of the times of the Gentiles [chapters 1 & 2], and it ends with an account of the last days of Israel’s final disciplinary period by Gentiles [chapters 11 & 12].

Daniel covers the waterfront. It traverses the entire time of Israel’s era of desolations, not only the period when she was back in the land from the Babylonian captivity but also the era leading up to and including her dispersion into the world after she rejected her Messiah in 32 C.E.. Through metaphor and simile, Daniel’s prophetic time table of 70 weeks of years amazingly describes the Gentiles’ control of the world as it remarkably outlines Israel’s destiny until the Kingdom of Heaven is established on earth through her sponsorship.

There is one glaring question with Daniel’s prophecy. According to secular historical records, two thousand years is missing in the prophecy with no information whatsoever. As we have seen, this era is known by Biblicists as ‘a gap’ having now compassed approximately 2,000 years. It is the entire period of the Church Age.

This age is sandwiched in between the time after the death of Christ and the division of the Roman Empire into ten kingdoms represented by the ten toes on Nebuchadnezzar’s image. It is the era after Jesus was cut off (the end of 69 heptads) and before the Antichrist appears on the world stage at the beginning of the last heptad of 7 years. We know when Jesus was cut off, and we know a little about when the Antichrist is supposed to come on the world scene although we do not know the exact date. It is as if God forgot about the Church Age when documenting history through the prophet Daniel.

No, God did not forget about anything. The church is not mentioned in the Old Testament because it was a mystery hidden in God according to Paul until after Jesus was crucified, buried, and resurrected. The Bible tells us that if the princes of this world (satan’s invisible workers) had known what God was doing, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory [1 Corinthians 2:8], and the world would still be in its sins. Hence, God had to keep it concealed all during the time of the Old Testament. That is why we have to study to show ourselves approved of God [2 Timothy 2:15]. Does not Proverbs say, It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter [Proverbs 25:2]?

Given the signs of the times and the knowledge that Daniel’s 70 week prophecy cannot fail, it behooves God’s people to stay ready to move out of here. The last message from God on this website entitled “Are You Rapture-Ready?” is an eye-opener for whoever has his or her eyes on the sky. There is no more time for foot-dragging. The stage is set in the Middle East and the players seem poised and in position. Israel, who should know better given that Daniel was one of her prophets, and Palestine continue their behind the scenes transactions with the many world leaders to get the peace accord established that will usher in the last heptad of seven years before the Millennial Age starts. And President Bush, having acted ill advisedly, awaits the covenant outcome with pen and ink in hand. Yet, God has spoken. Make no mistake about it. His prophetic counsel will stand as the world fulfills His will.

re You Rapture-Ready?

I exhort you to join us here at Whitestones Ministries in the soon coming glorious departure for heaven. If you are unsure about whether you are rapture-ready, read some of the messages from the Lord on this website because within them is information disclosing what it takes to be ready. God does not want anyone to miss having a place in the bridehood of Christ. The Prodigal Son story proves that [Luke 15:11-32].

Did not the Father see his estranged lost son from afar, which means He must have been constantly, eagerly looking for Him to return? Jesus said that the Father had compassion on the wayward boy and ran to meet him way down the road before he reached home. And when He reached him, the Father amazingly embraced His son and repeatedly kissed him according to the original Greek not even letting him finish his humbling monologue. What a picture of the Father’s tender-hearted compassionate love.

The Father loved him so much He would not allow him to reduce himself to servant status because He cut off his son’s rehearsed repentant speech before he could say he wanted to be a servant in His house. What love is this that God is willing to call us sons and then smother us naughty children with much, much more love? Like the prodigal, those who penitently come to the Father are in no wise cast out though he has profligately wasted his substance. Instead of the son being relieved by being accepted back, the Father is more relieved that His son came home. So what if he used up his inheritance! The Father’s resources are unending.

The Father loved His son so much that He told the servants to put a signet ring on his finger giving him access to His limitless bank account; He said to put the best robe on his back, the robe of righteousness by which the son is restored to a right standing with Him; He said to put the best sandals on his feet so he could go publish the good news of the Father’s warm welcome home for any of His sons with no condemnation for what he may have done. What love is this to forgive so freely?

Not only is this a story about a prodigal son, but it is the story of a Prodigal Father! Jesus gave us this story to illustrate what our heavenly Father is like. Why is our Father Prodigal? Because He is lavishly extravagant, recklessly wasteful in bestowing mercies and love and substance. Can you imagine God rejoicing over us children with singing as He rests in His love towards us even though we be disobedient? Zephaniah says He does [3:17]. On top of that, He overflows the cups of us who seek Him with so much excess, one has to be bewildered that He is mindful of little ole me. Ah, but He is! Yes, He is, for He hunts us down and pursues us in order to bless us with goodness and mercy [Psalms 23:6]. Wow! What a Father!

If you did not read the latest message from the Lord on this website, you need to. In it, Jeannette received a vision about the “Twelve Gates Of Heaven”. Wait till you see her description of the luxurious excessive taste our Lord has! When we say something is heavenly, we cannot begin to imagine what that means. If the heavenly gates Jeannette saw are an indication, they show us that our Father is a big spender living in prolifically plush surroundings. And these are only the gates of the city of God! Not only do the gates reflect what is waiting for us inside the city, but the two visions as a couplet explains that we will each probably have a privately chauffeured, lightning-powered, angelic chariot in which to transmigrate to the gates of heaven where we will meet our Lord for our wedding. Perhaps the chariot will be our private limousine in which to tour the galaxies ……or universes?

Remember that nothing will be spared for our homecoming because God has said, …all that I have is yours to His sons – both of them – in the prodigal story. All I can say considering what the Scriptures reveal is that we will have a sumptuously spectacular supper for our wedding beyond anything we can imagine, and this is one pricey posh party you don’t want to miss. May we see you there ……….very soon.
