The Four Horsemen of The Apocalypse
DANBY, Francis: Scene from the Apocalypse c. 1829. Graphic rendering added.

People all over the world are aware of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse in the Christian Bible. This is proven by the fact that secularists in every nation who viewed the You Tube MSNBC report about the Egyptian uprising wondered if this 6-second clip of the ghost horse depicted Apostle John's visionary 4th horseman of the book of Revelation.

People have different opinions regarding what was shown as MSNBC commentators televised the Egyptian uprising. Nonetheless, many, if not most, initially wondered if the ghost-like phenomenon was possibly the release of one of the Apocalyptic horses and its rider.

It is my view that God meant for the entire world to be astonished and stunned at seeing the extraordinary incident. It was Love's means of getting people's attention so that they can contemplate the prospect that God's righteous anger concerning sin is in progress and hence, must repent and prepare for rapture if they want to escape the worsening holocaust prophesied for the world. This is God's signature method of offering grace before judgment. And people slated for rapture will heed the warning to prepare for takeoff.

Considering that MSNBC is a top U.S. liberal news organization, it cannot be asserted that the ghost horse was a plant by some Christian conservative news group trying to dupe people into contemplating the message of impending death coming to a fourth of the world's population.

Japan's catastrophe a month later confirms that the rider and his horse are indeed running. From the Middle East's firestorm of governmental collapses where the horse began his devious ride in Egypt, it galloped to Japan in March and tore down her worldly stronghold. From there the horse dashed to the United States in April cutting a swath of tornadic devastation amidst floods of epic proportion in the same area.

The huge massive Mississippi River is America's largest and the backbone of her commerce. Barge traffic along her waterway is what made America great. The current major flooding on it has already been termed 'The Great Flood of 2011'. They say it is worse than the two recorded epic floods of 1927 and 1993. Tens of thousands of people have been made homeless due to the backup of her tributaries.

To protect Louisiana's two largest cities of Baton Rouge and New Orleans, fifteen levee gates of the 125 total have been opened putting 25,000 people or more out of work and destitute of livelihood as the intentional flooding of millions of acres of low lying farmlands has destroyed their homes in order to relieve pressure from the riverbank. If the levee breaks at any point, the two cities could be wiped out as New Orleans was in Hurricane Katrina when the levee broke.

If the pale horse has only begun to run devastating the Middle East, Japan, and now the USA during a three month period, what must the end be? It is noteworthy that God revealed the pale horse named Death in Egypt which is Scripturally symbolic of the world. Hence, God began His severest pale horse judgment in the place where God-rejecting empires started. Is not this poetic justice?

Given that the fourth horse and its rider has been released, it implies that the first four seals are broken, and the four horses of the Apocalypse are running. Moreover, it is significant that the message was sent through a stronghold of resistance to God's truth – MSNBC – showing clearly that God is in control and does not hesitate to use opposition forces to expose what he is up to – the narrowing of the gauntlet through which men will pass during the tribulation whether they want to or not.

Meaning Of The Seal Judgements

Having touched upon the meaning of the last pale horse of the Apocalypse, let us briefly consider the connotation of the other three horses.

Eschatology has been a keen interest of mine ever since I started studying the Bible in earnest forty-eight years ago. Thus the book of Revelation was one of the first books with which I became enamored. At that time, there was not much information regarding eschatology outside of theological commentaries or demonminational 'Systematic Theology' books.

It was not until the book The Late Great Planet Earth by Hal Lindsey became a best seller in the early 70s that eschatological books began to proliferate. Interestingly, before he went on to Seminary, Hal Lindsey sat under the same pastor and Bible teacher I did only he was a couple of years ahead of me. This departed pastor and teacher was a scholar in ancient history, in Greek (nine years formal training), and in Hebrew (five years training). Hence, Hal had his interest tweaked in eschatology as I did by this pastor/teacher who had a good grasp on how to exegete the Word to his congregation, to categorize Bible doctrine, and to enliven Bible history.

My point in stating the above is to explain that long before eschatological biblical expositors became numerous, as I was being led by the Holy Spirit to understand the book of Revelation in the 1960s, it became apparent to me that the seal judgments were more pervasive than either the trumpet or bowl judgments. The sixth seal seems too cataclysmic to be followed by anything, much less the trumpet and bowl judgments to come.

In the account of what transpires when the sixth seal is opened, John saw 1) a great earthquake followed by the heaven being rolled up as a scroll as stars fell from heaven, 2) every mountain and island moved out of their places, and 3) all men fleeing to dens and caverns in the mountains to hide [Revelation 6:12-17]. Does not this sound like the final 7th bowl (vial) judgment as follows?

  Revelation 16:18, 20
18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great...
20 ... every island fled away, and the mountains were not found...

Furthermore, there is a five month period in one of the trumpet judgments following the four horse seals where death takes a holiday [Revelation 9:5,6]. Could this 7th bowl earthquake be concomitant with Jesus' return to earth on His white stallion with the saints whereby He speaks with the Word of His mouth [Revelation 19:15,21] and ignites an earthquake to end the Armageddon Battle?

I have said enough to establish the point. The seals appear to be a sort of Table of Contents for the endtimes. Whatever happens in the seals, once opened it continues to happen throughout the endtime period however long it is.

In a Table of Contents one will find that the chapters normally span, cover, and overlap the entire book with later chapters narrowing down and zeroing in on the final consummation of what the book is all about. In this regard, I have long believed that whatever occurs in the seal judgments is the reason the next seal is opened to pawl up tribulation. Each seal becomes more specific and narrow as the time factor diminishes between labor pains. At first they are far apart but become more intense as they get closer. Thus they are a preview of coming events in the tribulation.

So after opening, each horse continues to scurry throughout the endtime as disastrous events are compounded. The horses do, however, run in the prescribed order in which the seals are opened. Now let's take a peek at the harbingers of the pale horse.

The White Horse

When Jesus explained the endtimes to His disciples in Matthew chapter 24, called the Olivet Discourse, the very first thing He told them was to be wary and watchful of deception. Four times He cautioned His staff against being deceived, and in His monologue, the last time He used the deception word, He warned that even the very elect would be deceived if possible.

  Matthew 24:24
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

The 'if possible' statement is a Greek first class condition 'if' meaning 'if, and it's true'. Therefore, it is true that some of the elect will be deceived in the endtimes. Does not the transformation of the Philadelphian church to the Laodicean one prove this?

The 24th chapter of Matthew is actually Jesus' interpretation of Apostle John's Revelation vision. Thankfully, prior to His departure, Jesus gave us the interpretation 60 or 70 years before He gave John the vision. According to Jesus, then, deception plays a significant role in the rise of the Apocalyptic judgments. Because it does, we have an explanation of what the white horse signifies.

The only horseman named in the Revelation is the fourth one – Death. But we could name the first horse 'Deception' since Jesus specifically said deception would be the first sign of the end of the Age. In Matthew 24:4 we find that the first words of Jesus' Discourse about the endtimes are: Take heed that no man deceive you.

Jesus declared in verse four, deception opens the end period of the ages. Correspondingly, the white horse whom we have named Deception opens the Apocalyptic judgments. Considering that white ordinarily signifies purity, we have a dilemma because deception is not spotlessness. Since the Apocalyptic horses' colors imply their mission, and it is not benevolent, the question becomes, why is the first horse camouflaged in white?

Scenario #1

Many people posit that this horse represents the duplicitous, dishonest Antichrist (AC) as he goes forth conquering. We learn that the rider appears on stage without a crown, but his charisma confers him one in due time as people look to him as their savior from world calamity. After he has won the esteem of the nations through subtlety, craftiness, and charm, he will have conquered the peoples to become the last ruler of the times of the Gentiles. Because his bow has no arrows, it is reasonable to presume the bow is not a weapon of warfare. Given that God made covenant with Noah after the flood with the rainbow [Genesis 9:11-17], could the bow signify the covenant with death [Isaiah 28:14-18] the AC makes with Israel?

Scenario #2

Another scenario equally plausible and to which the Holy Spirit leads me to subscribe suggests that this horse is the white horse Jesus rides when He returns to claim earth as His possession in Revelation 19:11. But the problem with that picture is that Jesus' Second Advent to earth is not until the end of the Revelation tribulations, yet this horse begins them. Moreover, Jesus is without guile or blemish, so the only way this could work is if the horse represents the body of Christ on earth, i.e., His church. Let's pursue this set-up further.

There are three things that could denote that this horse represents Christ inclusive of His body:

Blue Tack

1. white represents righteousness and purity;

Green Tack
2. the rider assumes His crown later on – at the end of the tribulation immediately before the beginning of the Millennium;
Red Tack
3. the bow represents a covenant relationship the rider has with a certain group of people, namely, His church.

If the horse does represent the church, Christ's body, we can assume something has gone wrong because the horses of the Apocalypse are not gentle messengers. Each one metes out justice for God and sets the stage for the next more malevolent horse to appear. Thus, if the white horse represents God's people, somewhere the body of Christ gets off course and causes problems. The universal apocalyptic symbolism for all the horses is that they run rampant and unbridled throughout the world on a mission of destruction. Can this really signify the church then?

Considering the post-modern offshoots of the church such as Dominionism, Word of Faith Movement, Replacement Theology, The Prosperity Gospel, Kingdom Now, The Emergent Church, The Triumphant Church, etc., most of them are truly bent on conquering the world through their theology and ultimately presenting it to Jesus after conquest is made. So much for Jesus coming to end Armageddon and ubiquitous tribulation as the Book of Revelation states He will do [19:15].

All of the Dominionist groups rely heavily upon the Prosperity Gospel with its power of attorney to use Jesus' name in order to fuel its fires of conquest. Because of this, many unsuspecting church members have been deceived into thinking that being prosperous signifies one is intimately walking with God and that one is unspiritual as well as unscriptural if he does not pursue wealth to give to rich ministries for the conquest of earth. Paul teaches otherwise. He says to beware of...

  Timothy 6:5-8
5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

Sheep are greatly intimidated by televangelists who merchandise them with Scriptural error such as insinuating that they must name their gift to God, give it to a thriving ministry, (i.e., theirs), and make it significant or they will not be blessed. Dozens of Scripture verses are taken out of context to woo believers into giving money to ministries.

Jesus warned that the Laodicean prosperity mystique of the last church would trigger the Apocalyptic judgments, for He positioned it as the last church on the world stage right before the judgments begin. Having nothing good to say about this church, Jesus condemned its prosperity message, to wit:

  Revelation 3:17-19
17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Gold tried in the fire signifies suffering through deprivation of the flesh in order to obey God and finish one's course victoriously as Job did who said ...he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold [Job 23:10].

Thus, the Laodicean aura is the deception causing the white horse to run amuck. A large percentage of Word of Faith preachers through television, DVDs, meetings, etc. have unwittingly led the flocks of God to use their faith to seek worldly things instead of teaching them to ...let your manner of life be without covetousness and be content with such things as ye have [Hebrews 13:5].

  Colossians 3:1-3
1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

The mammon maxim is not the only doctrinal error abounding though. There is abundant false teaching regarding God's will for healing people. Suffice it to say that false teaching underlies a false gospel, and teaching error for truth in the church is what ignites and glorifies the mission of the white horse. God's patience with His people for not teaching sound doctrine has ended, and the forth coming days are dicey at best.

It is significant and noteworthy that a prophecy was given in 1965 by a respected and recognized Pentecostal prophet and teacher of the Lord, Stanley Frodsham, in which he scrupulously warned about the deception that would infuse the church in the endtimes. He was baptized in the Holy Ghost in Great Britain at Sunderland in 1908, the place in Britain where the Pentecostal Movement began.

Because the message of Frodsham's prophecy speaks to the pervasive deception within the church that forced God's hand to activate the Apocalyptic judgments, it closely aligns with this interpretation. Therefore, we have included it in an Addendum as confirmation for the interpretation of the Cabin in the Sun and Tidal Wave visions. Not only does it validate the interpretation, but it also demonstrates how God still speaks today through disjointed visions, dreams, and prophecies to reveal what He is doing.

As the Cabin vision shows, God is calling people out of the corrupted mislead church that Frodsham prophesied about through a variety of means, disasters, and catastrophes. In seeing the handwriting on the wall, these enlightened ransomed people on the highway to holiness are returning to the Lord by traveling the path up the mountain to prepare themselves for rapture. They have discovered that the false bread of unsound doctrine does not satisfy. And because they have been living in a worldly wilderness without a true shepherd, these thirsty people are seeking for truth and righteousness.

Having mortified the flesh with the lusts thereof in the cabin, the people jellying up with life in the surf of the wave constitute the newly formed latter house of God that is more glorious than the former church out of which the new clientele of God has emerged.

  Haggai 2:9
9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts.

The purified clients who have returned to righteousness and holiness through the noble process of repentance form the Bride of Christ, and they are precious in God's sight. They are drinking the water of life and milk of the Word freely as Jesus has offered to all [Isaiah 55:1; John 7:37], and in doing so, they are aggravating the status quo church groups at the bottom of the wave who are happy with their complacency and comfort zone.

The Red Horse

Most people agree that the red horse represents warfare and bloodshed. It started its endtime run with the War on Terror. Jeannette and I have several visions and interpretations on this website that attest to the fact that 911 was a significant date in history because when the twin towers fell in New York City, the event activated the red horse. Since that time, civil wars, border wars, and rumored wars have escalated. And war multiplies suffering.

A terrible consequence to civil and border wars are the refugee camps resulting from ethnic groups escaping genocide. Not only does it present an economic problem for countries opening their borders to refugees, but also, the country from which they come loses much of its work force as people flee from egregious exploitation, especially in farming, which hinders its ability to economically sustain those remaining behind. These factors along with the bloodshed on the battlegrounds debilitate and weaken nations. Warfare does not just impact third world countries, however. It also drains first world nations of its resources to assist people.

As if confusion and distress of warfare per se were not enough, the red horse enhances its devastation through depletion of the money supply to support armies with munitions and food. Thus there is an ever enlarging need for greater access to money to pay military personnel and the costs of war. Alas, this turn of events causes the third black horseman of the Apocalypse to hurtle forth with fury and famine, to increase the complexity of the world's situation, and to catapult the planet into financial chaos.
