Jesus Prophesied His Celestial Marriage

Revelation 2:17

17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
GREBBER, Pieter de God Inviting Christ to Sit on the Throne at His Right Hand 1645 Museum Catharijneconvent, Utrecht

There is in the above Scripture three incredible incentives for believers to overcome the pull of the world to become a bride of Christ. In the preceding vision, Earth Shattering, the importance of blood covenants was addressed. It was pointed out that born-again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ upon regeneration enter into a confident although sightless, blood covenant agreement to make Jesus their Lord. It is an inestimable but 'wonderfully' awesome faith arrangement because the actual marriage takes place on the other side of life after one's death or translation. One wonders, "can this really be true?" For this reason, God promises eternal life to anyone who believes Jesus came to save him or her, and He puts a premium of bridehood on the persevering faith that shuns the world and contends to the end of life without caving in. Whoever pursues the prize to be a bride of Christ is promised a place in the royal palace with our Lord. We have noted already some of the blessings of becoming Jesus' bride. In the above, we learn of even more priceless benefits and gifts offered to overcomers who win over the wiles of the devil - everlasting manna, a crystal communication card, and a royal name.

Hidden Manna
According to the book of Exodus, manna is white, like Coriander seed.

A portion of the manna the Israelites ate while journeying through the wilderness was placed in the Ark of the Covenant in the Holy of Holies of the Tabernacle. It was the place God chose to commune with man. Only the high priest could go behind the veil to see the Ark containing the manna, and this privilege was only on the Day of Atonement when the priest interceded on behalf of the nation asking God to cleanse them from sin. Consequently, after the wilderness experience, the sample of manna was hidden from the people and only a high priest had access to it. Since Jesus has atoned for the sins of the world, believers have been made kings and priests unto God [Revelation 1:6; 5:10] meaning that as believer-priests we now have admittance into the Holy of Holies and can attend for ourselves the throne of God in order to find help in time of need [Hebrews 4:16]. Manna in the Old Covenant was food for the physical body. In the New Covenant, it stands for food for the spiritual body. We know that blood covenants are generally sealed by a mark and confirmed by eating a meal with one another.

The hidden manna that believers will eat in heaven represents their future partaking of Jesus as their covenant marriage partner. Whenever anyone partakes of food, the substance ingested becomes a part of the person in the form of nutrients that feed the cells and sustain life. Jesus said we do not live by physical bread alone, but by every word coming forth from the Father's lips [Matthew 4:4]. He also said that He only spoke what His Father told Him to say. Words are spirit and they are life. The inference here is that Jesus is the manna of spiritual life. "It is the spirit that giveth life, the flesh profiteth nothing; the words I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life" [John 6:63]. Jesus called Himself the bread of life. And, the book of Hebrews teaches that He entered into the Holy of Holies upon resurrection with His blood. The implication is that Jesus is the hidden spiritual manna at this time in the heavenly tabernacle in like manner that some natural manna was hidden in the tabernacle during Moses day.

Jesus' words are manna from the heavenly Father because they offer eternal life. Since Jesus is the hidden manna - the bread of life - eating manna is a picture of one coming into union with Christ in a wedding ceremony in heaven. We understand all this through the benefit of words now, but when we get to heaven we will actually become the bride of Christ, and He will be available to us as priests at all times. Having entered into the Holiest in heaven upon His resurrection, He is "ready now to appear in the presence of God for us" [Hebrews 9:24], and we have a right to use this arrangement by faith. We can partake of the hidden manna by believing in Jesus' words that He was sent to become the Savior of the world on behalf of the Father's plan to save His creation from extinction.

White Stone
Jesus said He was going to give His overcoming bride a white stone when she gets to heaven.

Since it is customary for a groom in the world of shadows to give His bride an engagement ring prior to the wedding, set with a white stone, usually a diamond, could there be a correlation? The diamond is a white stone that brilliantly sparkles in the sun. It is the jasper stone in the book of Revelation. I believe that all the stones mentioned in the walls of the City of God in Revelation 21:8-20 are translucent stones which glisten and gleam. Opaque stones absorb light, but translucent ones reflect it. There is so much light in heavenly Jerusalem, the sun cannot be seen. Let it be noted that the Spirit needed to explain in verses 18 and 21 that the city was made of transparent gold because gold is naturally opaque. Transparent things have the quality of allowing light to pass through. Just because some stones are not translucent in the natural, do not think that they are opaque in the spiritual. If believers take on God's character in glorified bodies, do you suppose that our bodies will be radiating light? After all, we have the unending presence of the Holy Spirit residing in us, and He is the one who caused the light to shine "in the beginning". Interesting!

The high priest had a special treasure called the Urim and the Thummin which he used to make contact with God. They were white stones, and it is said that they were diamonds. The Urim signifies 'light' and the Thummin, 'truth'. Is not the role of a born-again Christian to become 'truth', not just preach it, and to become the light of the world? Jesus said He would give a white stone to the overcomers, and being priests in a kingdom of priests, we have a legitimate right to bear the Urim and Thummin. Again, the bride of Christ is honored only this time with precious gems of holy character - light and truth.

A novel thought is that because priests used these stones to obtain instructions from God, could they be a means of communicating between heaven and earth for consultation with our Lord, like witches use crystal balls (to use a pejorative analogy)? It has been recorded that the high priests would gaze into the Urim and Thummin to concentrate, hoping that they would hear from God. Remember, satan is a liar and there is no truth in him. He can only counterfeit or copy God's methods and creations; therefore, anything his minions do is patterned after something real. Telecommunication with a white stone is not so far-fetched when one considers that we can now see people at remote distances with whom we speak through video screens.

It is fascinating to speculate that the white stone with Jesus' new name on it will become our entrée, our credit card par excellence, throughout God's universe as we rule with Him. It might operate similar to a letter of introduction. When covenants are made, often the pair making the covenant writes or engraves something on a 'token' of some sort be it wooden or stone or whatever. The token is then divided and each person keeps with him the object received. Perhaps they cut themselves and a scar becomes the 'token' 'mark'. And, sometimes, instead of dividing a token, something of great importance belonging to each one was gifted to the other. Benefit derives from this practice. Subsequently, when visiting a covenant brother's domain, the visiting person would present to the gatekeeper his part of the token, the mark, or the gift, and thereupon receive VIP treatment because he was recognized for what he was, a 'friend'5 to a covenant. David Livingstone and Henry M. Stanley evangelized Africa in the last century by using this method. I read where one of them cut as many as 50 covenants with tribes and in so doing a large percentage of pagan Africa was opened to the gospel through him.

I believe that this white stone with Jesus' new name on it will figure prominently in the new creation after the climax of the ages. Perhaps it will be the bride's token credential that this person is royalty. Perhaps we will visit other planets or universes as Kings and Queens do today in goodwill trips so to speak, and this stone will identify us as special people in covenant with the Creator God.
A New Name

This might be a large leap of extrapolation about what the future eternal state will be like, but we do know from Scripture that the material world we live in is a silhouette of the spiritual world. In addition, we know that God Himself established blood covenants and their attendant practices as an important cultural institution.6 Many of the messages on our website demonstrate that natural things denote spiritual things. In this regard, Jesus' new name will be engraved on our stone in like manner that a wife takes the name of her husband in the natural.

As has been stated, the high priest was the only one who knew the name written on the Urim and Thummin. It has been suggested that it was 'Yahweh' because no one was allowed to speak God's holy name. Thus being the only one with access to the stones and not being able to communicate it, only the high priest knew what was there. Perhaps Jesus' new name will follow the pattern and be too holy to speak in heaven because in Revelation 2:17 we read, "…in the stone a new name (will be) written, which no man knoweth saving he that received it." It does not say it will be the believer's new name as some suppose. Rather, it will be Jesus' new name which the bride shares. In similar manner as the high priest of the Old Covenant, only the overcomer who receives the stone will know what is written on it. The Apostle John actually saw in his vision Jesus' new name written but he did not understand its meaning [Revelation 19:12]. As if to confirm the vision, Jeannette likewise saw something written on Jesus' golden forearm but was not able to decipher it. We can account for the enigma by realizing that as yet, we do not know all the majestic attributes of our sublime Savior, and even in eternity some may remain incomprehensible. In sum, albeit subtle, the pieces of our vision fit the puzzle of a Biblical marriage indicating that we are talking here about a covenant relationship.

An Array of Benefits

Lastly, having overcome the distractions of life and the pull of the world to make the rapture, the bride will get the whole 'shoot'n match' of blessings, as someone has suitably remarked, that overcomers of the seven churches of Revelation have been promised to receive. The promised blessings to the overcomers of each church are not specific to people who lived in that era of the church. Rather they are cumulative and all inclusive for every person who makes the bridehood of Christ. "He that overcometh shall inherit ALL things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son" [Revelation 21:7]. How could anyone not want to participate in this "incorruptible inheritance" that is "undefiled (and)...fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time" [1 Peter 1:4,5]?

Behavior Befitting A Queen
In many visions, the visionary takes on the role of someone in reality related to the church. In others, she is only a spectator. In the last vision Earth Shattering, she represented the evangelists of the tribulation showing people the way to heaven. Here we have her representing the true church that is kept from the hour of temptation. She portrays the behavior of anyone consecrated to serving the Lord Jesus. She was attentive, eagerly awaiting His every word, humbled in His presence, and bent on acknowledging His Kingship. This is the way any bride to be ought to behave.
ANDREA DEL CASTAGNO Famous Persons: Queen Esther c. 1450 Galleria degli Uffizi, Florence

Her behavior followed closely the Biblical pattern of Jewish brides. They yield their volition to their husband who becomes their lord. We must remember that a marriage constitutes a blood covenant relationship, which as we have seen in the previous vision is a sacred irrevocable pact ordained by God.

In Psalms 45:9, one finds the queen standing on the right hand of the King. Since the King is sitting on God's right hand and the queen is standing, I believe this signifies the queen's position in the chain of rule in heaven. Jesus sits because He is coequal with the Father and all authority has been given to Him. The queen, however, receives her limited authority from Jesus, and it is restricted to whatever has been assigned to her to rule. Nonetheless, she stands in the place of honor at His right hand and each bride has as much honor as any other overcomer in the bridehood. Anyone not wanting to yield his or her volition to Jesus now, while on earth, will not participate as a bride in heaven. He alone has the capacity to rule the universe and people are on probation at this time to see who willingly yields to the Father's will. God is looking for total commitment, which comes from within the sanctity of the heart, not from some outward show of piety for others to see. We do not know what we shall be doing at that time for we see through a glass darkly, but we understand that the bride will rule in the same way that earthly queens share rulership with kings. They are said to reign alongside the king even though they might not make significant decisions. Perhaps she is an ambassador to earth or a liaison connecting one planet to another. Regardless of assignment, the queen is considered royalty wherever she goes. Do you want to be a bride and queen? Just remember that our behavior here on earth demonstrates our willingness to let Jesus be Lord.
