Interpretation of Hope

By Lee Y. Martin, Ph.D,.

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

Being burdened by current events, Jeannette had been praying for the United States of America and Israel for several weeks when the Lord gave her the foregoing prophecy. Because this prophecy was given to Jeannette after she had the Wailing Wall vision which is concerning a mid-trib rapture of Jewish firstfruits, we decided that this prophecy was an encouraging epilogue word from the Lord to the Church. Considering that we are on the threshold of the times of the end, perhaps even have entered it, this prophecy is therefore submitted as inclusive with the vision about the Wailing Wall and is an exhortation from the Lord against fear.

God wants His people to understand that they are children of light and ought to live in the light not despairing because of what is going on in the world. We belong to God's economy, not the Babylonian's system that is falling apart. If the Father has track of every bird and knows the number of hairs on our heads, will He not hear the cry of a child in need?

Both the message of the Wailing Wall vision and the prophecy of Hope are well-timed words from God that the body of Christ should take seriously. They instruct that we ought to keep our minds focused on Jesus, live like He'll return today, but plan like He'll tarry a long while. Rejoice, for our Father is not asleep.

We can surmise from the vision of the Wailing Wall that God is issuing a last call for lukewarm people to repent from wickedness and make ready for what's ahead. The time for our Lord's second visitation is at hand. The return of the King is upon us, and we have a choice. By forsaking sin, we can be ready for prosperity in the midst of turmoil and escape from the hour of temptation that shall come upon the whole world [Revelation 3:10], or we can worry and miss the rest God has for His own.

God has spoken both in the prophecy above and in His Word: Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee [Isaiah 60:1-2]. These Words of the Lord are for the people at the end time. He is telling us to get out of the grossly dark satanic system of the world so He can shine upon us. Quit honoring the god of that system by giving your precious time to it. Quit watching television and the fear provoking news. Quit buying salacious magazines and watching filthy movies and scandalous spicy sitcoms. How can God pour forth glory on persistent worldly activities?

Making God your priority and thinking on Him instead of the world will cause His light to shine upon you and assure you of prospering when others lose hope in this perplexed cosmic system. God is not limited by this world's system. He can prosper people in the midst of disorder and confusion. Fear is a force of darkness and if persisted in and not rebuked, it will becloud God's promise of blessing you in the midst of uncertainty. The world can offer you nothing but puzzlement and unrest. So get out of the Babylonian system of chaos.

God has spoken above and said He would be merciful "one more time". Believe what He has said. Believe His prophets (or prophetesses) who enlighten according to Biblical precepts, and you shall prosper [2 Chronicles 20:20]. Doubt them and you will surely fail. But make sure they are prophets whom God has sent [Jeremiah 23:21].

Guaranteed blessings as in the prophecy of "Hope" are fundamental to unfeigned faith in God's Word. They are the rewards of obedience to Him. God alone knows the extent of "one more time". All we can do is stay prepared to meet our Maker in the rapture as Jesus has repeatedly exhorted those with ears to hear through His parables.

For believers who are prepared for crossover to New Jerusalem, hope is not a future expectation but a now reality. …Behold now is the accepted time, behold now is the day of salvation (deliverance) [2 Corinthians 6:2]. God has done all He is going to do about our deliverance. He gave His life, and He has given us control of things with authority to use His name. Hence, deliverance from unpreparedness, worry, and fear is our work of faith. God cannot believe for us, nor can anyone else.

God promises to move when we move. He is our Helper, not a pusher, or an oppressor. He does not push us into anything. We must choose what we do. Will you fear or will you believe and receive His hope given to you in the foregoing prophesy?

Register Your Name In the
Book of Remembrance

Assuming you are already registered in the book of life through spiritual regeneration, it does not take much to please God and cause Him to list your name in His book of remembrance. God is ever ready to bless people who seek Him, even those who have strayed from home.

Jesus told us what the Father in heaven is like in Luke15:20-22. Listen to this carefully: The Father was eagerly watching for His wayward son to come home because Jesus said He saw him coming when he was a great way off. That means He was looking for him. Sounds to me like the Father had no intention of holding anything against the boy. Indeed, when He saw him, He had compassion on him, and rejoicing, He did not just run to meet him, but He sprinted (Gr.: dramoon - to run as if in a track meet to win a prize) – perhaps to obtain a jewel? Thus, He expended great effort to welcome His repentant son back home.

Clean Sandals

When He got to him, listen to this, He repeatedly kissed his filthy sweating grimy neck that had just come out of a smelly pig's sty; He put a signet ring on his finger representing a deposition to the son's account backed by great authority that belonged only to His Father; He gave him the best robe available and shod his dirty feet with clean sandals; and then to top it off, for his homecoming He gave a pretentious party so elegant and joyful it made his elder brother envious and angry!

Does that sound like someone to be afraid of? It sounds to me like a PRODIGAL FATHER, someone with whom to fellowship and cultivate as an intimate friend. Wouldn't learning about an extravagant Father like that be worth the time and effort? It would enhance your brilliance as a gemstone.

Throwing a gala bash for a self-serving wayward son who has come back to the source of his prosperity is beyond the pale of forgiveness. But alas, God is much more than this. Not only has He forgiven us all, but He has prepared for us a City with gold streets, huge pearl gates, beautiful gemstones indiscriminately lying around, mansions in the sky, no sickness, no death, no turmoil or perplexity. All it takes is a quality decision to make Jesus the center of your life, and you can begin to enjoy His riches now. When you do, you open the book of memory as well as the Gates of Mercy. Glory Hallelujah, what a Father!

Deciding to live for Jesus is simple, a mere quick flip of the mind. That's called repentance. Turning towards Eternal Life is not a work but a decision. God is not looking for your effort to earn His favor. You already have it. So you cannot work to gain it. All He wants is for you to accept His lifestyle of love and fellowship with Him.

Sin is not an issue anymore no matter how bad you have been. Since Jesus died and rose from the grave, the barrier between you and God has been removed, the veil is rent, and God is approachable. Jesus took every 'IOU death' sin memorandum out of the way at the cross nailing it to his hands and feet [Colossians 2:14]. He hung on the tree for every human being who has ever lived so that people everywhere could be forever free from fear of failure and condemnation.

Forgiveness of Sins Is A Forever Accomplished Fact

Thoughts that we are not thoroughly forgiven of all our sins no matter how bad they are [1 John 1:9] put us in bondage to fear. Fear of not having done enough to get into God's grace and favor is what hinders our progress in spirituality. It robs us of overcoming faith-rest power.

Thoughts like "you haven't prayed enough", or "you haven't fasted enough", or "you haven't been faithful enough", or "you haven't given enough", or "you're not as spiritual as so and so", or "you don't deserve God's favor in healing or finances", or "suppose it doesn't work", or "what if……" "what if……", "what if……" are fear based and will keep you from experiencing the love and favor of God. All those thoughts negate the much more of the gospel of grace because they doubt God's Word. Being fear and doubt based, they are of the devil and he wants you chained to him. Those kinds of thoughts qualify as sins of unbelief in the finished work of Christ on the cross, the complete and thorough cleansing of sin by Jesus' blood [1 John 1:7].

Can you see that thoughts like the foregoing tempt a person to work harder in order to qualify for blessings from God? They pull a person into a works based religion. And Jesus' gospel is a grace based relationship in the royal family in heaven. Working to earn God's favor stems from a 'genetically altered gospel'. The gospel of grace is free and anything that alters the extreme riches of the grace of our Lord in forgiving sins without our having to do penance or work for His favor is not of God. In fact, the more we work for favor, the deeper in debt we become. Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not…his faith is counted for righteousness [Romans 4:4].

God is not out to 'get' you, to catch you sinning. Nor does He like to withhold His mercy, love, and favor. Paul's entire repertoire of letters is about the much more of the New Covenant of grace. His gospel of excessive grace is about how God has provided for every one super abundant grace as well as the gift of righteousness [Romans 5:17], and is looking for the least opportunity to bless us. All we need do is shun sinning and receive from Him. He is a giver, not a getter.

Not believing in God's boundless unqualified mercy for forgiveness of sins is a fundamental cause for our faith not working, and if faith doesn't work, hope for "one more time", "one more move" of God won't fly. Forget about the past, flip the switch of faith and keep it turned on. You are forgiven of ALL sins including those you keep chewing on that hinder your faith. Believe 1 John 1:9 and reign in life. You don't have to qualify for the much more blessings of the "one more time" around the mountain before we are called home. The Father has already qualified us to be partakers of His inheritance [Colossians 1:12]. We are qualified because we are in Jesus.

Trying to keep the law, any law but love, to earn God's favor is fear based and allows sin to rule over you [Romans 6:14]. The only thing God desires of anyone is for them to respect and love Him for Who He is and what He has done for us. Being a giver, and not a taker, it delights Him when we take from Him for it gives Him glory and brings Him many thanksgivings [2 Corinthians 9:12]. He wants our devotion and a longing to be in His presence, but He saves people just like they are. To get into God's book of remembrance, however, requires deeper motivation to holiness than a mere fire insurance policy. A passing caveat: Better to be saved yet so as by fire than to spend eternity in the lake of fire [1 Corinthians 3:15].

Jesus has given New Covenant people a new commandment, only one, that we should love like He loves [John 13:34], so decide to love and believe that you can do it. The Bible says that all things are possible to him that believes [Mark 9:23]. A decision to love is shown in action, so practice loving. It's simple. Consider other peoples' needs before your own. You say that's hard. It isn't if you are born again, for the love of God is shed abroad in the hearts of born again believers by the Holy Spirit who is given to us at our regeneration [Romans 5:5; John 14:16].

Read John's first letter written to believers and meditate in it. Being just, the Lord would not tell us to do something if we couldn't do it. That would be unfair. Since we are commanded to love as our Commander loved, if you are having trouble loving, you might check up on your Kingdom citizenship. Perhaps your name is not in the book of life. It is so important to walk in love because love is the only thing that will cast out fear [1 John 4:18], Therefore, loving is the only means of walking through this time of darkness and of obtaining freedom from bondages that hinder the "one more time".

God is predisposed to inscribe your name in His book of remembrance, but are you predisposed to pressing in to know Him better? God is very approachable since Jesus' has done His work in removing the barrier of sin. Our Father greatly desires our presence. Run to Him and say I love you and want to become a jewel and vessel of honor in your house. It's hard to believe, but He wants to serve us! But He wants to serve us without the smell of sin, i.e., unbelief [Isaiah 43:24]. He holds all the cards so let Him play the game for you. You can't defeat the devil in your own strength but Jesus can. So, quit trying to change your behavior. Change your thinking. When our thinking is right, our believing is right, our confessions are right, and our behavior is right. Right conduct ultimately results from right thinking. Therefore, decide to renew your mind with the Word of God.

These are internal spiritual matters that guide our behavior. I suggest you stop working to be blessed and rest in what God has said in His Word about us being already blessed with all spiritual blessings in the heavenlies [Ephesians 1:3]. Given that we are and that they are in heaven waiting to be accessed, use your faith to make those blessings a reality. That's the flip of switch required to please God and be rewarded – the switch of faith. Faith in all that God has said in His Word will stop worry and fear and bring forth rest from a works based lifestyle. He that has entered into His rest has ceased from his own works [Hebrews 4:10].

Resting is believing everything God has said in His Word about His forgiveness of sins and His desire to serve you by blessing you. He says He forgives anything and everything – no matter what – and we should too. Hallelujah! If you are not resting in the finished work of Christ on the cross, you are not pleasing the Father. It will keep you from the much more abundant grace and the "one more time" around Mount Moriah from which the much more flows.

As you meditate on these things while looking at the Scriptures in the Bible with your own eyes, you are THINKING on God and hence, are being hewn into a precious stone. The more you do this, the more brilliant you will shine in heaven. So it isn't hard to get into God's book of remembrance. No works needed. Just a loving faith that He is real and He loves you deeply. He does not require perfected behavior, but He does require a deep desire to become perfected in behavior.

God spoke that day through the “Hope” prophecy for His people not to despair but hope to the end for the day is coming in which hope will shine forth victoriously.
