The Mayflower Compact

Prayer and Signing of "The Mayflower Compact"
Besides Israel, the United States of America is the only other nation to have a covenant with God from its beginning. Before the pilgrims disembarked in Plymouth, Massachusetts, they covenanted aboard the ship to uphold a signed document known as the Mayflower Compact. Within was written what they all agreed was the most important goal in life. It contained the heart and soul of their hopes for a new life in a New World. They listed only two things needful to guide their lives in this new frontier, to wit, a Bible to: (1) propagate the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and (2) establish a good government based upon the principles in God's holy Word. One part spoke to man's spiritual welfare and the other addressed his physical and material well-being. Twenty-three years later, all the newly established colonies in New England came together and made a similar joint agreement to continue expansion of the New World with the same two basic guidelines with which to form a civil government.

Be apprised that a compact is equivalent to a covenant. Since the Bible was the foundational book upon which the new government was formed, the New Testament's covenant of peace with God became the surety for a better life on earth. Jesus' blood of the cross made it a better covenant than the Israelites had in the Old Testament [Hebrews 7:22] because anyone can partake of its offer to become a king/priest to God Almighty. Under the Old Covenant, only a select few could approach unto God. It is not possible in this interpretation to compare how much better the New Covenant is. I can only say in sum that every believer who covenants with Jesus and makes Him Lord of his or her life is given awesome power to overcome satan in this world. Without partiality God has given every believer equal access to all the divine operating assets to enhance his position in the world and to fulfill God's will for His life. Knowledge about how to unleash the available power is a problem that satan hopes believers never learn. After receiving all power in heaven and earth upon His resurrection, Jesus, without partiality, delegated a power of attorney to each of His followers [Hebrews 1:2; Romans 2:11; Matthew 28:18,19] authorizing them to use that power in evangelizing the world. Yet God's "…people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" [Hosea 4:6].

In the case of the Mayflower Compact, the entire group of settlers incorporated the New Covenant's commandments as the foundation upon which they would base their newly found freedom from tyranny. Because the Reformation had just gotten underway when the settlers came to the New World, and because the Bible had just been released as a good translation into English under authorization of King James, the Christian pioneers did not have a firm grip upon how to use their God-given authority and supernatural power to break off the yoke of bondage to satan completely. Therefore, God undertook for them as newborn babes for they desired the sincere milk of the Word [1 Peter 2:2], and worked at keeping the Word first place in their lives [James 1:22]. The Lord honored their deep desire to be His bondservants and anointed them to persevere in an unfriendly climate with fickle native friends. Consequently, they became the first enduring corporate body of born-again Christians in America.

We know from historical documents that the entire colonial enterprise eventually incorporated itself into a large body of God-fearing, Bible-promulgating, like-minded believers. Both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are documents based on the Word of God. Hence, we have several instruments proving a blood-covenanted connection with God. Moreover, as was mentioned in 'Earth Shattering,' America's flag nicknamed 'Old Glory' bears the red threads across its white background signifying a blood-covenanted bond. Every time you see our banner waving in the sky, consider it as shouting 'Glory to God,' Glory to God,' 'GLORY TO GOD' in an attempt to get His attention - to remember we have a covenant with Him, to bless our country, and to prosper us so we can protect the freedoms of the world and bless other nations. Preservation of life and liberty depends upon God's disposition to favor us because as the light of the Gospel has become brighter, the dark clouds of evil have become darker. We have no time to spare. We must pray without ceasing [1 Thessalonians 5:17] and repentantly seek God's face along with the leaders in the vision.

It has been reported on many pages of this website that God is fast approaching the end of His patience with sin. The world situation is aligning itself with prophecies pointing to the end of the age. Is there hope that the United States can survive the challenges facing us? Yes, there is, if the true Church will pray and stop playing around with idolaters and idolatry. 9-1-1 has awakened a significant group of praying believers as can be attested to by the election results of November 2002. We can be thankful George Bush, Jr. won the election of this administrative watch and a God-fearing family entered the White House. It may be that like Josiah [2 Chronicles 34:27] God will give us a reprieve of unknown years because of the tears of repentance by our head of state. As King, Josiah humbled himself and wept bitterly before the Lord when he realized how greatly Israel had sin.

By burying his tearful face in the dirt, President Bush reveals in the vision that he has turned his face to the wall, and like Hezekiah is looking at nothing but the mighty God represented by the mountain.

GIOVANNI DI PIAMONTE The Prophet Isaiah 1456-66 San Francesco, Arezzo

Isaiah 38:1-6

1 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.
2 Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD,
3 And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
4 Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying,
5 Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.
6 And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city.

I believe that the vision aligns beautifully with the above passage as an example of what God will do. An elected head of a country represents the people's choice and embodies the will of the group he leads. Notwithstanding how the leader receives his scepter, the nation reaps the fruit of the behavior of the head. "Righteousness exalteth a nation; but sin is a reproach to any people" [Proverbs 14:34]. We have been reaping the whirlwind of the last administration as testimony to this truth. At the time of the pronouncement of doom on Hezekiah, we know from other passages of Scripture, that God was ready to judge his kingdom of Judah along with her northern sister Ephraim because of pride, and Hezekiah was unwittingly on a fast track to disaster. In that respect, the United States has done the same thing. The prosperity of the 1990s caused the USA to be exalted above measure. Executives inside and outside of government contemptuously flaunted the laws like undisciplined drunks. Given that "pride goeth before destruction and an haughty spirit before a fall" [Proverbs 16:18], it was a matter of time before the consequences of wrongful behavior would appear. We are now reaping the harvest of those years of pride with a real war and an economic shakedown. We can take heart, however, that the vision gives hope we can overcome. Like Hezekiah, President Bush has wept sore, so the vision implies, pleading for mercy and trying to clean up the mess in Washington. He has made some progress, but the entrenched devils of wickedness are hard to unleash.

Turning his face to the wall shows that Hezekiah is not looking to the right or to the left for help, neither is President Bush looking to the U.N. or even other nations for help. It would be great if we could get it, but the world is not our source of strength and God says woe unto those who look to the world for help [Isaiah 31:1]. Thank God, President Bush has his face in the dirt praying like David of old, "Some trust in chariots, some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God" [Psalms 20:7]. Prostrate with his face down in humble submission weeping, shows that he knows other nations cannot help us now against weapons of mass destruction - only the God of our fathers can. His resolve to seek out terrorists wherever they are, with or without the help of other nations, proves our President has turned his face to the wall and his motivations are pure and righteous. Moreover, the behavior of the man in this vision portrays someone who is not currying the favor of the Lord, but honestly and sincerely wanting to do the right thing. He does not want war, but he also does not want the world to think we have a God who cannot deliver His people. Like Moses who prostrated himself before God interceding on behalf of the people of Israel, this man is interceding for the United States of America and pleading that God would spare her.

Note that verse 3 of Isaiah 38 indicates Hezekiah believed he had walked before God with a perfect heart. He did not realize he had moved into pride. Can you not see America in the above example? He had made some mistakes, like America, but who hasn't? He was not perfect, but his heart was. Is not this a picture of the USA? We are not lacking in blunders, but primarily over the years, our heart has been right. We have shown great compassion to many countries of the world including those of our enemies. The South was forgiven immediately after the Civil War and the POWs were freed. After WW II, we lifted up Germany and Japan with recovery plans, and they were restored to new heights from their fall. As the primary contributor to the IMF we have forgiven debt after debt to third world countries that could not pay back their loans. We have been generous beyond our capacity burdening our populace with debt. Because the principles of the Bible have guided her actions, God has blessed her in spite of her faults, which is testimony that "(h)e that hath pity on the poor, lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he (God) pay him again" [Proverbs 19:17]. God does not forget His Word, and when His people repent and turn back to God, He will hear, will deliver, and will defend them [v.5, 6].

This vision is heartening to contrite believers who have mourned the depravity in this land. It is a message of hope that God has found a real intercessor whom He can guide as He did Moses, David, and Jesus. The results of the 2002 election indicate that God has been listening and perhaps is beginning to move on our behalf once more. We do not have to be concerned about the world outside when God is at our helm. He knows the end from the beginning; He knows how to depose kings and defrock terrorists of their weapons of destruction. The zeal of the Lord will bring the counsels of our enemies to naught [Psalms 33:10] when our motives are pure and we loose the bands of wickedness [Isaiah 58:6]. There is one other possibility, which must be mentioned. Could the Lord be gussying up His Philadelphian Church in order to rapture her in a blaze of glory [Revelation 3:10]? Regardless of whether we have a few days or ten years, believers cannot rest on their laurels because our relentless enemy is not yet incarcerated.

Summary of Vision 1

As we have seen, God severed His client nation Israel from the rest of the nations so she could be blessed as an example of holiness to the world, and so He could have a holy people with whom to fellowship [Leviticus 20:26]. He subsequently had to sever her for cursing because she refused to repent of her folly. She became an infamous model for future generations showing the extent of holy wrath on rebellion, sub for 'divine 'tough love'.' Since both Israel and the United States are blood bought nations, and since we know from Scripture that Israel will survive, it is probable that the United States of America will also survive the indignation of God to come.

Vision 2 - On the Right

The Rock of Ages

When Jeannette reported she saw someone that looked like me sitting in a rocker, I knew the message had eternal consequences and that the slaves spoken of were not mere flesh and blood bondmen, but souls that were bound forever. Being older than Jeannette and because of my years, I depict the Wisdom of the Ages while the rocker symbolizes the Rock of Ages. The rocking chair infers timelessness because its rhythm of rocking back and forth portrays the ebb and flow of nonstop recurring seasons or ages. In both Testaments of the Bible, a rock or stone often refers to God because of its solidity, unbreakableness, and stability.

Daniel 2:34-35, 44

34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.

35 Then was the iron [the Roman empire], the clay [the revived Roman empire], the brass [the Grecian empire], the silver [the Persian empire], and the gold [the Babylonian empire], broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

44 And in the days of these kings (contemporaneously with the Gentile kingdoms that rule the world until the set time to restore the Davidic Kingdom of Israel) shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom (an invisible spiritual one), which shall never be destroyed: and the (spiritual) kingdom shall not be left to other people (unbelieving heathens to rule over it), but it shall break in pieces (with the power of love) and consume (dethrone the unseen spiritual renegade, alias the devil, who controls) all these kingdoms (of the Gentiles), and it (Kingdom of God) shall stand for ever.

MICHELANGELO Buonarroti Daniel 1511 Cappella Sistina, Vatican

The stone that was cut out of the mountain of God is Jesus. He is called the stone which the builders rejected [Mark 12:10] and a rock of offense [1 Peter 2:8]. "…Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offence; and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed" [Romans 9:33], meaning he will not be disgraced or barred from eternal life. Rocks can be crushed and chiseled, but with great difficulty is one shapen. Care must be taken where the tool strikes a stone or it will shatter making it unusable and worthless. God, however, knows exactly where to place a tool in order to perfect its beauty. Without human hands, Jesus was cut out of the mountain of the Lord and filled with grace and truth. He was sent forth by the Father to do His will, and mercifully, He did not fail.

From the above passage, we can readily see that the kingdom eventually consumes all the kingdoms, which the image of the beast in Nebuchadnezzar's dream predicted should come. The mountain from which the stone was cut out personifies God's heavenly Kingdom, Mt. Zion, which grows imperceptively and cometh not with observation to earth [Luke 17:20]. This spiritual kingdom invisibly increases its citizenship until it fills the whole earth. When the "gospel of the kingdom (is finally) preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations, …then shall the end come" [Matthew 24:14]. The spiritual reality of the kingdom/mountain of God will become manifested in the visible physical world in the Millenium. Its King will descend from heaven on a white horse with all of His citizenry riding horses behind Him at which time He stops the carnage of the world that the tyrannical Antichrist ruler has caused [Revelation 19:11-16]. The earth will have rest from war, and its Edenic environment restored.

Because of its indestructibleness, a rock is a simile for God. He is a strong fortification for those who take refuge in Him. "He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength… my refuge is in God" [Psalms 62:6-7]. The psalmist refers to Him as a rock 24 times, and Moses similarly refers to Him as a rock 6 times in his farewell song to the Israelites [Deuteronomy 32:4,15,18,30,31]. Not only is Jesus called a Rock, but His is also the Wisdom of God. "But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption…" [1 Corinthians 1:30]. As representing the Wisdom of God, the statement of the elder in the rocker is instructive in that it is a warning to people to investigate whether they have a covenant relationship with the true and

only God because all men have not

'the faith'
[2 Thessalonians 3:2].

If one is not born anew, the God of heaven is not his or her spiritual father but rather the illegitimate god of this world is, according to Jesus [John 8:44]. Wisdom is the ability to use the knowledge of God for one's benefit. Mere knowledge is not wisdom because tyrants, geniuses, and fools often have a lot of facts and information about the world but know little or nothing about God. Moreover, without understanding the Word's attitude toward bondages and slavery, it is impossible to discern the meaning of the statement 'Slaves who have bastards become slave to the slaves.'
