Our Missionary Trip to Ongole, India

By Jeannette L. Vetter

Greeetings in the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ

What can one say about a mission trip to the other side of the world! It has changed our lives. I will address this tiny message from my prospective. For those of you who wish to know about what the Lord has given us with regards to teachings, interpretations, and visions you can read them on our site in the following documents: Cross of Wood, Treasure Hidden in the Field, and Sheets of Rain.

I had a life before India and now I am in the after India. My heart expression is of deep love for these people. But at the same time I was overwhelmed by the magnitude of the work of Christ that He so clearly has given to these people and His humble servant me. Christ not only demonstrated with signs and wonders, but His unfailing Holy Scriptures poured out like a drink offering to these people. I am at a loss for words to express how much I not only discovered about myself, but like Ruth who decides to go with Naomi to Bethlehem entreated with her heart the love she had for her. I spoke these same words to the organization of I.E.R.F (India Evangelistic & Relief Fellowship), to Rev. K. and his family and to the church that is located there.

Ruth 1:16

16 And Ruth said, Entreat me not to leave thee, or to return form following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou logest, I will lodge: thy people shall by my people, and thy god my God:

When I looked into the eyes of these people, my heart was filled with compassion. I was also raised in poverty and tossed from family to family as a child. I understand more why my belief concerning relationship and the value of a human being were so dearly paid by our beloved Christ on the cross. This too is my cross.

Romans 12:1

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

I poured out myself gladly to the lovely children of Hena Memorial Orphan Home at Ongole. I gave my heart to Rev. K and Rachael, his beautiful wife. At times I can still her voice. Many times we would travel to some remote village. The roads would be long, hot and dusty, and of course bumpy. Rachel would say to me "Rev. K is doing sleeping business." I would bust out in laughter. We held many Healing and Evangelistic Crusades that were located deep in remote areas of the countryside. We would go to villages along the shore of the Bay of Bengal. I would see women carrying heavy loads of wood, pots, and others items upon their heads.

I saw many Hindu temples and numerous idols everywhere. My thoughts were that of Paul who stated at Mars' hill to the men of Athens in Acts 17:23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you. Traveling with the Evangelist team that was organized by the India's of I.E.R.F. we declared the Gospel of Christ to India. Lee and I were the only Americans there at that time.

I must end this now, for I am not a writer but a dreamer that reaches out to touch the hem of my beloved Savior Jesus. My cry is too you my dear sister or brother the love I hold so dearly in my heart of hearts for you. Song of Solomon 5:1 I am come into my garden my sister, my spouse: I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk: eat, O friends; drink abundantly, O beloved.

I pull off my shoes from my foot for I am standing on holy ground. On bended knee with tears of praise, grasping my heart for the holy of holies I have entered. I come up hither and spread my wings. Be thou my vision Oh, Lord. It is thee I seek. May your name be upon my quivering lips, the very breath I take be of undying love. Devoted I to you, to kiss your cross. May my tears fall upon thy Holy Word. Let them sink in the depths of my soul. It is you and only you that I desire. May nothing be left of me.

For My Beloved Savior Jesus Christ,
